after years of fighting to end slavery, slavery was officially abolished in jamaica in 1838. Jamaica became an independent nation in 1962.
modern day jamaica is the home of people from all races and many different ethnic cultural backgrounds including african, chinese, east indian, british, spanish, arabic and many beautiful mixtures.
